WHAT WE DO

We’re on a mission to ensure women have equal opportunity in the communications industry. By harnessing the power of their real voices, we strive to future-proof women’s careers, spearhead industry change and pay it forward.

Bloom launched in 2010 as a network to provide professional support for women within the communications industry. In our first year, we had 21 members and now a decade later we have over 500 and are continuing to grow. Our three founders Belinda Stacey, Katie Treggiden and Kirsty Barnes came up with the idea at a WACL event, and joined forces for the good of the industry. To this day, we have remained discipline-agnostic and welcome members from across the broader media, marketing and advertising industries.

To support our values of collaboration and inclusivity, and to promote fresh thinking and ideas, we select new leaders and committee members on an annual basis. Each team member plays an active role to help drive Bloom, support its partnerships and ensure all women within the industry achieve their potential.

HOW WE DO IT

Our Bloom members are active in a programme of events and initiatives. We listen to a diverse range of industry voices, participate in skill sharing and mentoring, and benefit from the support of women at each stage of their careers.

Each Bloom member supports industry newcomers by dedicating time each month to mentor younger women in communications. As well as supporting new Bloom mentees, we have a dedicated network for former mentees who want to remain active within Bloom called BOOST. We also act as a big sister network to BelEve, offering them our time, skills and knowledge, plus helping them with work experience placements within the industry.

We are proud to host industry events, panels and workshops focusing on the challenges and opportunities that exist for women in the industry. Even COVID19 didn’t slow us down: we just adapted to digital and hosted brilliant workshops, networking sessions and live debates for members and the wider public.
