One of Bloom’s 2019 objectives is to engage more men in the gender debate. The Bridge panel event on 1 May was the first in a number of initiatives designed to achieve that, The Exchange by Bloom is the second initiative in this programme.
The Exchange is a new type of cross-mentoring pilot inviting 20 industry-leading men to be matched with 20 Bloom women to break down the barriers contributing to the gender divide in our industry.
We aim to open up a refreshingly honest dialogue between the sexes that could help break down the stereotypes that limit the way we interact and forge a new way to look at gender in the workplace, making it more equal for all. Senior Bloom women will mentor senior men on how best to retain female talent within their company and ensure a more fair, equal workplace. The men will mentor Bloom women on how to overcome the barriers to leadership in their own career.
The ideal men for this mentoring scheme will be senior and influential within their company, with a history of supporting women in the workplace, who are up for being open minded, ready to listen & be listened to, and motivated to start - in a small way - to close the gender divide in our industry, one conversation at a time. Male mentors will be selected via an applications process which is now closed, and will receive confirmation by the end of May.
The Bloom women will have a minimum of 10 years experience and will have worked at a number of companies to ensure they have valuable insight to offer. They will be vetted for the programme via the Bloom Leadership Team.
All must be able to attend a speed mentoring/matching kick off session in London on the 4th of June 2019 at 6:30pm, as well as commit to having 4 conversations with your mentor over 6 months either in person or via phone/Skype. The kick off session will be moderated by Executive Leadership Coach Deena Gornick.
We will use a pre and post questionnaire as well as closing interviews to evaluate the pilot and will share the findings and results at BloomFest in November 2019.
Applications are now closed
