Congratulations to the Bloom #EverydayActions Awards Winners

Bloom’s vision is to create an industry in which every woman can achieve her potential. And this year, we are very proud to launch our Bloom #EverydayAction awards; which celebrate people who champion gender equality in the workplace on a daily basis. These are all about the people who make stuff happen but don’t necessarily get recognised as much as they should; those who make a real difference and inspire others to do so. We asked to hear about the unsung heroes of communities, networks, and workplaces, who contribute towards creating an industry in which every woman can achieve her potential.

Here are this year’s winners - these are people who have been nominated by their colleagues, and you can read more about why they were nominated below.

Fabian Adams-Sandiford

Head of PMO, Clear Channel UK

"I nominate Fabian for appointing the most diverse team of employees within Project Management Office at Clear Channel UK. All of us come from the minority background and were recognised for achievements, experience, potential and fit for the team. He went above and beyond to secure flexible working arrangements for the two working parents and provides his support and understanding to the related aspects enabling a work- life balance for the staff."

Richard Bon

Chief Revenue Officer, Clear Channel UK

"Richard has dedicated most of this year to equality and fairness. He has been intrinsic to the development of Clear Channel’s Fairness and Diversity culture in the past 12 months. He has continued to support women in the workplace, encouraging us and nominating us where it is deserved. An advocate of female managers across our business, a personal mentor to many and an inspiration to all, Richard truly deserves to be recognised for creating true equality in our workplace. Richard is an inspiring individual, who has been pushing & supporting women internally & externally in the work place to get further up the ladder, while also taking into account a fair work life balance for working mums. He is a true feminist and my organisation wouldn't be the same without him."

Emily Conway

Associate Business Director, JWT

"Emily’s idea to set up a women's network within the agency offered positive action - creating a dedicated platform through which women could develop their confidence and skills, and work towards change. The impressive attendance and feedback at these events has demonstrated the value that the network has brought, and will continue to bring to female employees within the agency"

Nova Dando

Director

"Nova will actively seek out all female crews for her jobs. Her view is women need to support each other - especially in the freelance world."

@novadando

Amanda Farmer

Managing Director, VMLY&R London

"Amanda has an infectious energy. She feels personally responsible for the career of everyone who walks in the agency. She gives, supports and helps way more than she takes. She has breakfast with all new starters because she wants to know them personally, to create an environment where they can strive. She is a passionate advocate of listening and empathy at all level from the CEO to the intern. You will always find an ally in her."

Caroline Forbes

Specialist Partner, Clear Channel UK

"Always an ambassador for women/diversity in our business. Whether that is supporting the women in

our business on a day-to-day basis or helping out programmes such as Brixton Finishing School get air time in our business. Sometimes it isn't always about one big thing but a lot of little things which amount up."

Sinead Gray

Managing Partner, Kindred

"Sinead has always been a champion for gender equality...despite her increased workload and responsibilities, she always makes sure her team are pushing themselves. Having a line manager who's incredibly successful who consistently pushes you to succeed, to raise your profile and equips you with the skills and confidence to make a difference in your day to day role is an incredible thing. Learning from her, in turn, means I feel confident in encouraging the women I manage to fulfil their potential too."

@sineadgray

Tosin James-Odukoya

Recruitment Business Partner, GSMA

Tosin has continuously been on hand to whisper those words of confidence when I really needed it. These words have spurred me on to do more and give my best. Tosin was the force behind the event we held for International Women’s Day. She made sure that the event was inclusive and showcased a number of the stories of women at different levels at the GSMA. She has also played a huge role in ensuring that our organisation is staffed more diversely at all levels."

Cadi Jones

Commercial Director, Beeswax

"There are two different women in the workforce. Once that empowers other women and one that builds a wall in between you and success. Cadi is the first. Not only has she done everything in her power to empower me, but she has given me the tools to empower others. She is an exemplary female in leadership and I look up to her every day."

Nicola Kemp

Trends Editor, Campaign

Nicky has been a incredible champion of women and of diversity in our industry more generally, bringing her intelligent and sensitive analysis to the leaders who hold the power within the ad industry both in her articles and her live speaking engagements.  She celebrates and encourages other women to extend their impact, build momentum and generally be more powerful from where they each stand in the industry. Nicky's warmth, humour and leadership style leads her to reach the hearts and minds of people in our industry, and seed change. Nicky is changing norms in our industry by reflecting a future we would like to see.

Annabel Mackie

Managing Partner, Lida

"Annabel started the parents network to help women and men who are coming back to work feel more confident in the workplace. From mindfulness sessions for new parents, to bring your children to work day events, to just being reassuring to new parents - she's made it much easier to be a parent who wants children and a career. She's an inspiration!”

Chris Pelekanou

Chief Customer Officer, Clear Channel UK

Chris’s belief in the strength of women in our business doesn’t stop at his senior team. He stands alongside his junior female colleagues, respecting their role and contribution and expects others to do the same. It is an important attribute in a business where there is a lot of potential in women in mid management roles. His confidence and trust in their expertise allows them to gain experience, build confidence, and be ready when opportunities arise. His commitment to fairness goes beyond gender equality; advocating for fair and respectful treatment for everyone. His active support of industry diversity activity shows how he takes his role as a leader in the industry seriously."

Ernestina Potts

Head of Strategic Communications, Virgin

"Ernestina is a relentless supporter of women - both in and outside of work. In work, she leads the new Women's network for Virgin, she actively encourages the use of female suppliers across the team's outputs and made the right conversations happen internally to support hosting an inaugural work experience student for BelEve. Outside of work, her jewellery business MilkTooth London empowers women to look and feel great.”

Fiona Ravlic

 National Sales Director, 8 Outdoor

"Fiona started 8 Outdoor's Inspirational Breakfast programme in 2016 and has driven it since, resulting in the 17th event taking place this month. The programme aims to give women of all levels access to an inspirational female leader - something that is rare in the OOH industry. The programme has made a significant difference to both 8 Outdoor and the wider OOH community, with great feedback for each event, and Fiona deserves huge credit for it!"
